Slovenian Istria is one of the northernmost areas where olive trees still grow. The olive oils from this area are undoubtedly among the best, mainly due to the special Mediterranean climate in which they thrive. They are known for their exceptional aromatic and medicinal properties.

Istrian extra virgin olive oil meets the highest standards

Extra virgin oils may contain up to 0.8% free fatty acids, but extra virgin olive oil from Slovenian Istria contains a maximum of 0.3% of these acids! In addition, it must achieve a higher organoleptic rating than other extra virgin oils. For extra virgin oil from Slovenian Istria, it is prescribed that the rating must be at least 7 or more. Oils with such a rating are distinguished by exceptional fruitiness, balanced bitterness and pleasant spiciness, which are key characteristics of top-quality oils.
